Hard Skills vs Soft Skills vs Action Verbs

1. Hard Skills (The Nouns)

These are the core technical requirements of the job. "Python", "Salesforce", "SEO", "Financial Modeling". These are the primary filtering criteria for an ATS. If you lack them, your score drops.

2. Action Verbs (The Initiators)

An ATS looks for strong action verbs at the start of bullet points. Replace weak phrases like "Responsible for" or "Helped with" with strong verbs like "Spearheaded", "Architected", "Engineered", and "Generated".

3. Soft Skills (Contextual)

Soft skills like "Communication" or "Team Player" should rarely be listed in a generic Skills section. Instead, demonstrate them contextually within a bullet point: "Led cross-functional communication between engineering and marketing..."
